Appy Friday! 5/23/14

Picks, picks and more app picks!

Early Childhood

Touch Follow alphabet by Hatchworks Ltd (normally $0.99)
Coloring app that will color alphabet shapes even within a quarter inch. Great for introducing letters while working on coloring skills and finger isolation. In addition, it has a simple black background and could be helpful for cortically blind students.

Lipa Eggs by Lipa Learning SRO (normally $2.99)

This app works on matching colors, following patterns and mixing colors. If you make a mistake you get a cloth to clean the egg and start over. Works on finger isolation and visual discrimination.

Elementary

Addjumper - An additional game to focus your mind by Elsa Cantuna (normally $0.99)

This is a math game with 21 levels that reminds me a little of Subway Surfers (but simpler graphics).  You run along the track and touch the answer in time to jump the train before you get squashed. It's a little unforgiving, so its good for students with good visual perceptual speed. I don't think it focuses your mind, but it is fun.

SMART adventures Mission Math by Kata Enterprises, Inc (normally $4.99)

This is an interactive math adventure where the user  completes mini-games. Designed for girls ages 9 and above. You start out by personalizing your avatar. It comes with math help if you don't understand what to do. However, you need to be able to read the instructions, tutoring information and questions. Overall the app is cute, but you have to get through a lot of dialogue to get to the math (but you can touch the skip button thankfully).
