Simplex Spelling Light by Pyxwise
This spelling app is based on research by the National Reading Panel. The user works on spelling 50 high frequency words using “reverse phonics”. You receive a spelling word with an example in a sentence. When you ask for a hint, instead of the program giving you just a single letter, you first hear the word sounded out. If you need more help, you click on the sound again and it will give a limited set of choices of letters for you. If you tap the wrong answer, it will tell you the spelling rule. Best of all, it is privacy friendly. They do not share any data, pop up ads, links to social media or has push notifications! Note you cannot create your own spelling list in the light version.
